Essential Functions of the Job :
  • Confirming the intended scope of the release (coordination with product management, product owners and development teams)
  • Validating that the release documentation aligns with the intended scope (release notes).
  • Identifying the components needed for the release (which services/database builds need to be pushed).
  • Determining if/which feature flag settings need to change with the release.
  • Coordinating with infrastructure and DevOps to ensure that the release procedure includes all needed changes including adding new infrastructure and services.
  • Coordinating QA, Automation, UAT, Infosec, PMO and change management teams to ensure everyone is aligned on release scope, approvals, timing, etc.
  • Generally facilitating periodic releases to ensure that produced features are smoothly introduced for end users.
  • Plan and communicate release cycles and schedules for the pipeline for all environments.
  • Support QA and other higher environment deployments (both automated and requested).
  • Produce deployment run books, status reports, and implementation plans as needed.

Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:

The Release Manager will have ultimate authority over the release management process and will facilitate dialogs with the respective business and IT teams to ensure operational handoffs and readiness. Decisions should be underpinned not only by business commitments and product readiness, but business risk (financial and reputational risk). In the event of a major post-release issue, the Release Manager will also be a key decision-maker regarding rollback and all activities that must occur to facilitate the same.


Supervision Responsibilities:
